High School Diploma Information

High School Diploma and GED Options at The Clarkson School

Clarkson University does not grant high school diplomas. Students who wish to earn a high school diploma or its equivalent may choose from two options. Regardless of the path selected, students remain eligible for Clarkson School scholarships and grants. Our staff is here to assist you with whichever option you choose.

Option 1: Earn Your High School Diploma from Your Current High School

You can work with your high school administration to develop an academic plan that meets your graduation requirements while studying at The Clarkson School. We will incorporate the required classes into your Clarkson schedule, and upon satisfactory completion, we will provide the necessary documentation to your high school.

  • Students may complete these requirements either during the first semester or spread over both semesters.

  • Those who finish their high school requirements in the first semester become eligible for federal financial aid in the second semester.*

Option 2: Take the GED Exam

This option offers the greatest flexibility for your schedule. We provide assistance with GED registration and transportation to the testing site, which is located nearby.  Most students pursue the GED option in the first semester to be eligible for federal aid in the second semester.

* Important Financial Aid Information
If you remain enrolled in your high school while attending The Clarkson School, you are eligible for Clarkson School financial aid but not federal financial aid. By definition, enrollment in high school includes, but is not limited to:

  • Concurrent pursuit of a high school diploma while enrolled at The Clarkson School.

  • Having completed all diploma requirements but not yet received your diploma, while taking courses for which your high school grants credit.

  • Being considered enrolled by your high school for participation in sports or other curricular/extracurricular activities for which high school enrollment is a prerequisite.
