Whether you want a quick walk between classes or an all-day adventure, there’s always somewhere new to go.
And with four distinct seasons, the ways to explore keep changing all year long. Hike it, paddle it, ski it or snowshoe it.

A free afternoon can take you farther than you think. Waterfalls, wooded trails, beaches and miles of North Country scenery are all within reach of campus.
- Hart’s Falls Preserve – Follow a short wooded trail to a waterfall and come back in the winter for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.
Postwood Park - Higley Flow State Park – Hike, paddle and explore in warmer weather, then come back for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing when the snow arrives.
- Red Sandstone Trail – Follow the Raquette River through more than four miles of trails just south of Potsdam.
- Seven Springs - Enjoy this 80-acre, Clarkson-owned recreation area with trails for mountain biking, hiking, trail running, backcountry skiing near Colton, New York, which is also home to Clarkson's Baja SPEED team's annual Oktobajafest.
- Stone Valley Trail – Explore miles of trails along the Raquette River with waterfalls, wildlife and plenty of North Country scenery.
- Indian Creek Nature Center – Walk more than five miles of trails, boardwalks and wetlands with plenty of opportunities for wildlife watching.
