Research Connections Across Academic Fields
Many of our mechanical and aerospace engineering faculty are affiliated with research centers across campus, such as the Clarkson Center for Complex Systems Science, the Institute for a Sustainable Environment and the Center for Rehabilitation Engineering, Science and Technology.
Clarkson Center for Complex Systems Science (C3S2)
The C3S2's mission is to encourage and facilitate research and educational opportunities in the area of complex, nonlinear, dynamical and adaptive systems. The C3S2 fosters collaboration from an interdisciplinary group of researchers to address important problems from a wide range of scientific, technological and engineering disciplines for the advancement of technology and humanity.
Institute for a Sustainable Environment (ISE)
Our department partners with Clarkson’s cross-disciplinary research hub, the Institute for a Sustainable Environment. Faculty and students work on a variety of campus, community and international sustainability projects and have received national accolades for projects ranging from electric snowmobiles to a high-tech campus greenhouse.
The Center for Rehabilitation Engineering, Science and Technology (CREST)
CREST is a multidisciplinary research and educational initiative, dedicated to a balanced academic exposure to the medical, social and psychological aspects of disability and its remediation. It emphasizes new research tools and analytical processes and designing and developing augmentation or replacement devices.
