Biography
Daniel Andreescu is Instrumentation Manager and Assistant Professor of Spectroscopy / Instrumental Laboratory at Clarkson. He received a PhD in Chemistry, from the University of Bucharest, Romania in 2002. Between 1996 and 2001 he was researcher and Deputy-Head of the Air Pollution Control Laboratory at the National Research and Development Institute for Industrial Ecology – INCD ECOIND, Bucharest, and from 2001 to 2003 he led the biosensors department at the International Center of Biodynamics, Romania. In 2003 he moved to the US as a postdoctoral/research associate in the group of Prof. Dan V. Goia at Clarkson University working on projects related to material chemistry with a focus on synthesis and characterization of ultra-fine and nanosize metallic and metal-composite particles. He joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Science at Clarkson in 2008 as the Instrumentation Manager, overseeing the operation of the department’s core instrumentation facility and providing training for research and teaching personnel on the use of HPLC, GC, GC-MS, UV-VIS spectrometers, fluorimeters, multi-well plate readers, atomic adsorption and NMR spectrometers. In addition, he teaches the Spectroscopy and Instrumental Laboratories and is continuing his research in the field of advanced materials with sensing and environmental applications.
