Clarkson University Students Awarded More Than $25,000 in Scholarships to Shape the Future of the Construction Industry

With the start of a new academic year, Clarkson University's Construction Engineering Management (CEM) Program proudly recognizes Clarkson’s diverse student body for securing over $25,000 in scholarships for 2023-2024, reflecting Clarkson University’s commitment to fostering excellence and innovation in the construction and engineering industry. While celebrating the recent achievements of these exceptional students, great focus is on the department's commitment to empowering students from different majors to thrive in the construction industry.

Jonathan Jewell, a dedicated Civil Engineering major with a minor in Quality-Based Project Management and a concentration in Construction Engineering Management, was recently awarded the prestigious Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Scholarship and the Barrett Paving Materials CEM Scholarship. Jewell’s passion for construction and his desire to give back to his community have made him a stand out student. 

Jewell’s success is just one story among the many thriving students within Clarkson University's CEM Department. The department prides itself on providing opportunities to students from diverse backgrounds and majors, ensuring that all individuals have access to a wide range of scholarships and industry connections.

Meet some of the remarkable scholarship recipients:

Magan Backman - Major: Engineering & Management (David D. Reh School of Business); Scholarship: Jeffrey J Zogg Memorial Scholarship ($5000). This scholarship acknowledges the collective efforts of the entire construction team, from contractors and managers to owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and craftspeople, all contributing to project success.

Alexandria Celia and Honors Student Lindsey Penet - Major: Engineering & Management (David D. Reh School of Business); Scholarship: $2500 each. These students embody the spirit of collaboration and dedication that the CEM Department instills in its students.

Kailey Johnson - Major: Civil Engineering with a Concentration in Construction Engineering Management (The Coulter School of Engineering); Scholarship: Rich Anderson Memorial Scholarship (Empire State Highway Contractors Association). Kailey's achievement showcases the department's emphasis on building partnerships with industry organizations, providing unique scholarship opportunities.

Robert Schneider - Graduate Student; Scholarship: $2500. Highlighting the ongoing support for advanced studies in construction-related fields.

Brett Tiffany - Major: Civil Engineering (The Coulter School of Engineering); Scholarship: Anthony S. Santaro Scholarship ($3000). Brett's achievement exemplifies the department's commitment to nurturing future civil engineering leaders.
