Clarkson University to Host Sixth Northeast Regional Conference on Complex Systems

Clarkson University will play host to the Sixth Northeast Regional Conference on Complex Systems (NERCCS) sponsored by the Complex Systems Society US Northeast Chapter and the Clarkson Center for Complex Systems Science (C3S2) from March 22 to 24.

The conference will host more than 150 attendees and will feature 60 submissions from 27 different institutions from across the country. The conference will offer 48 speakers across the three days, including six prominent keynote speakers, and 10 posters will be presented in the poster session on the evening of March 23.

Organizers for the event are all from C3S2, and include the Director of C3S2, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Erik Bollt, Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Chunlei Liang, Associate Professor of Engineering and Management Golshan Madraki and Research Assistant Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering Jeremie Fish.

“This event is a perfect showcase to welcome our regional, national and international colleagues in this growing scientific trend that impacts so many scientific and engineering fields,” Bollt said. “There will be talks that touch fields like social sciences like how people interact on social media, to mathematical biology of how diseases spread, to how electrical grids are stable or experience crisis or collapse, to how financial systems may maintain stability, and the underlying mathematical issues of such complex networked systems. We are excited to share these three days exploring such central and important topics at Clarkson University.”

The Sixth Northeast Regional Conference on Complex Systems will follow the success of the previous NERCCS conferences to promote the emerging venue of interdisciplinary scholarly exchange for complex systems researchers in the Northeast U.S. region (and beyond) to share their research outcomes through presentations and online publications, network with their peers, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration and the growth of the research community.

NERCCS will particularly focus on facilitating the professional growth of early career faculty, postdocs, and students in the region who will likely play a leading role in the field of complex systems science and engineering in the coming years.
