Boeing CH-47 Chinook Helicopter from Fort Drum will Pick up Clarkson University ROTC Cadets April 20 and 23
Cadets from Clarkson University’s ROTC Golden Knight Battalion will be transporting from Clarkson’s Collins Hill Campus in a Boeing CH-47 Chinook Helicopter on April 20 and returning on April 23.
The helicopter will be landing on Cheel Lawn on Clarkson’s Collins Hill Campus at approximately 9 a.m. on April 20 and will return to campus at approximately 12:30 p.m. on April 23.The public is invited to view the helicopter’s arrival and departure on Thursday, April 20 in clearly marked safety zones..
The cadets will be picked up on a Boeing CH-47 Chinook Helicopter from B Co., 3-10 GSAB “Mountain Movers” of Fort Drum. The cadets will be a part of Task Force New York, conducting a Joint Field Training Exercise that also includes cadets from Cornell University and Syracuse University. Clarkson’s ROTC Battalion is inclusive of cadets who attend institutions in the Associated Colleges of St. Lawrence Valley including St. Lawrence University, SUNY Canton and SUNY Potsdam as well as Clarkson.
Before 9 a.m., community members may gather at the authorized viewing area in front of the Student Center. After the helicopter lands on Thursday morning, members of the community may join Clarkson Aerospace students in getting a closer look at the Chinook before the cadets depart for their mission.
While the active landing and take-off periods will be short in duration while the CH-47 crew is in the air space above/near campus, please also anticipate that the CH-47 will be loud.
