Clarkson University’s Center for Advanced Materials Processing Holds Annual Technical Meeting in Clayton
The 2024 CAMP Annual Technical Meeting, hosted by the Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) at Clarkson University, was held recently in Clayton. This year’s event hosted more than 120 scientists, industry leaders, state economic development representatives and students.
CAMP is a New York State-funded Center of Advanced Technology (CAT), one of 15 CATs which make it their mission to assist industry with technological challenges.
The meeting focused on five research areas for which the Center for Advanced Materials Processing is recognized with presentations by Clarkson faculty, technical experts, and other industry collaborators. They were Aerospace and Defense, Colloidal Materials, Sustainable Building Materials, Emerging Topics on Computational Modeling, and Research and Technology Showcase by both faculty and students.
The highlight of the program was the speech delivered by Dr. Becky Borelli, Principal Fellow and Mr. John Zima, Business Director, from L3Harris. Borelli and Zima presented areas of space research, including telescopes and airborne systems. The attendees were impressed with their high level of expertise and visionary leadership to find solutions to challenging global and technical problems.
The meeting also featured a well-received Industry Mentorship Town Hall. The discussion was led by Eric Xu, the Business Development Director of CAMP. The panelists consisted of experienced industry leaders from Corning and L3Harris. The discussion was directed towards mentorship advice which could help new graduates succeed in their professional career.
Clarkson University's Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) actively collaborates with companies on advanced materials R&D. CAMP has ongoing research projects with both fortune 500 corporations and emerging startups, spanning various industries including, aerospace, semiconductor, personal care, pharma, etc. CAMP welcomes collaboration with companies of all sizes and looks forward to helping them achieve their research and development objectives.
