Clarkson University Women’s Hockey Team Hosts Minnesota in NCAA Quarterfinal Regional
The Clarkson Golden Knights will make their 12th NCAA Tournament appearance when they host an NCAA Quarterfinal Regional at Cheel Arena on Saturday March 16 at 2 p.m.
Clarkson was awarded the No. 4 seed in the national field and will host the No. 5 seed Minnesota Golden Gophers.
These two teams have only met twice, both in the NCAA Tournament. In 2014, Clarkson stunned the University of Minnesota in Hamden, CT winning its first National Championship and becoming the first and only eastern school to win the National Championship. Then, in 2017, in St. Charles, MO, the Golden Knights defeated the Gophers again in Frozen Four competition, this time in the Semi-Finals en route to their second National Championship.
Tickets are on sale now via the Cheel Box Office. Fans can call 315-268-7750 to purchase between 2 and 4 p.m. this week or can purchase online via NCAA Hockey Regional Tickets. Fans are encouraged to pre-purchase for easy entrance on Saturday. Seating will be all General Admission for the entire arena. Groups of 20 or more can access group pricing on the site or by calling the box office at 315-268-7750.
The rest of the field has a strong ECAC presence as four teams from the league make up the 11 overall seeds. Ohio State was the overall No. 1 seed, followed by No. 2 Wisconsin, No. 3 Colgate, and No. 4 Clarkson.
Minnesota-Duluth and UCONN will play on Thursday for the right to face No. 1 Ohio State. St. Lawrence will face Penn State in Madison, WI, with the winner moving on to play the Badgers. Colgate gets to host a set of games for the second straight weekend, as Cornell will play Stonehill for the right to face the Raiders in Hamilton.
