Joining The Program
Learning by working on-the-job is smart. Through the Career Center at Clarkson, you can do this in the co-op (cooperative education) or internship program. Students work with professionals at a business or government organization.
Any Clarkson student in good standing can apply for the co-op or internship program after completing their freshman year, which involves working during a semester and a summer for a co-op or summer only for an intern. Clarkson’s FAQ section will answer many of your questions about the programs. Here are the steps to take to get involved.
Attend the Fall or Spring general interest meeting or stop by the Career Center (in the ERC) to learn more about the programs.
Register with the Career Center by using KnightLink. Accounts are assigned as soon as you enroll at Clarkson. KnightLink connects students, alumni and employers with information on full-time jobs, internships, co-op positions and mentoring.
Meet with a counselor at the Career Center to discuss your plans and review your academic schedule. This will provide you with the information you need when you meet with your academic advisor.
Complete the required forms and applications.
Meet with your academic advisor and complete the Academic Plan form if going on co-op. This meeting will help you decide at which point in your academic career a co-op will be most beneficial.
Attend meetings and workshops regarding the programs. The weekly Career Center newsletter provides this information, along with specific dates and times.
